Holland in Haymarket

A year ago while I was reading an online article, I noticed an ad that said "Spring Festival You Should Never Miss." The ad was a picture of a giant wooden shoe with some tulips surrounding it. I got curious and clicked on it and I found out about Burnside Farms Festival of Spring. I was so eager to go because when I was a little girl, I saw some big posters of tulip fields in Holland and boy, did they look so beautiful! Since I live in Maryland, I thought an hour and half drive would surely make it possible for me to visit the tulip farm in Virginia. Unfortunately, though, my husband was scheduled to go on a trip on the week of the farm's opening. Since I was afraid to drive through I-495 (I'm such a chicken), I ended up not going.

This year, it's a different story. I told a friend about this beautiful farm and she got interested. So we planned the trip and luckily, she agreed to drive. We left Maryland a few minutes past 9am and arrived there almost 11. There were already a few cars at the parking lot and some people lining up. The entrance fee per person was $8 while children under 2 were free. It took us a while before we got to enter, but it was worth the wait.

One of my dreams just came true! My friend and I couldn't hide our excitement as we walked along rows after rows of beautiful tulips. I thought seeing those gorgeous flowers in person would only be possible if I went to Holland. That's why I'm grateful for Burnside Farms' idea of creating a Holland-like experience for Americans. We spent about half an hour just taking pictures and then we sat to enjoy our snacks before heading back home.

Visiting the tulip fields was such an enjoyable experience and if you're looking for a great place to go this Spring or next, make sure to check out Burnside FarmsThis farm is great for everyone especially families because they have bouncy house for kids, face painting, and other fun activities. There are picnic tables inside and some food vendors as well. They usually open on the 2nd or 3rd week of April. To be updated with the opening date, follow their Facebook page. My advise is that you go early to beat the traffic and the long line. They do have a new location for tulips this year, so use this address for your GPS 15441 Haymarket Drive, Haymarket, VA 20169.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Spring 2017

"New season, new life" are the words I said when I saw some flowers on my garden blooming again. There's something about Spring that makes me feel hopeful. If you're from a country where there's winter, you'll surely understand how nice it feels to have a warmer weather again. Not to mention all the beautiful blooms from the flowers, trees, and even weeds!

So here's to a new beginning and more sunshine! Here's to Spring!

N-400 Cover Letter Example

I became a naturalized US Citizen almost two years ago and the process went smoothly. Finding a good cover letter example online, though, was kind of difficult. So my husband and I just picked the one we thought was the best and we started writing our own based on the documents we had to submit with our petition. Hope this one helps.

I edited the sensitive information like my address, phone number and alien number. The supporting documents on the list are the exact ones I sent. Keep in mind that my application was based on marriage to a US Citizen and some of you might have come to the US based on your parent's or sibling's petition. The USCIS website provides a checklist of documents you need to send along with N-400 form.

*Reminders*

1.) Print out two copies of the N-400 after filling it out. One copy is to be sent to the USCIS while the other is for you to read or memorize. The questions they will ask during the interview are actually based on the information you provided on the form so your answer should match.

2.)Be sure to state if you have traveled outside the US prior to the application. On the form they will ask you when and for how long. To be sure, get your passport and look at the dates of your travel before entering your answer. You need to bring your old and new passport on the date of your interview because they will check it.

3.) Supporting documents of an ongoing  marriage  are also important. In my case I sent the original copy of the  bill from my most recent doctor's appointment. It was addressed to both me and my husband which proves we live in the same residence.

4.) Be sure to use the latest version of the forms and check the payments 'cause they may increase. Mail your application to the appropriate Service Center. You can check on the link below and once you get there, click on the 'Where to File' tab.
